Project LZR-1134 (Open RP)

Barry nodded to the other survivor and his free hand touched the revolver in the holster at his belt to reassure himself it hadn't gone anyplace in the last five minutes.
He had always tried to be prepared for the possibilities of some sort of crisis in his town. Fires, Riots, storms... but walking dead men was something he would have chuckled at before this moment. Tightening his grip on his mace he followed him closely, knowing that should he not get any of the shambers from a distance, he was the better prepared of the two for up-close fighting.

Red walked out with Barry, and the two men began to head towards the last known whereabouts of Frank's wife and in-law. He kept his ears open for gunfire and for the moans of any undead. "Dang...if Ah knew Ah was gonna fight undead....Ah'd have stuck ta rodeo."

Barry smirked at Red's comment.

"I think that kinda goes for most of us, Red. If I knew about this in advance I could have found a fortified position with dozens of guys in armor, armed with stuff that chops, bashes or pierces... and that's just the larpers. The Civil War Recreationists I know have been itching for an excuse to actually put real lead balls in those guns."

"Ah'm familiar with 'em. Used ta hunt turkeys and deer with 'em. If Ah was back in Arizona, Ah'd be able ta use mah Peacemaker and mah own huntin' rifle. Winchester 1873 repeater, and a Sharps Carbine fer when the bears won't take no fer an answer."

Barry slid the safety goggles back over his eyes and the novelty bandanna back up over his mouth and nose.

"Let's just hope that whatever the outcome, this doesn't turn out to be our Alamo."

"You said it, Barry." He continued to move, using the shadows and some of the wreckage as cover. He couldn't help but notice that it was looking worse the closer they got to the last known whereabouts.

"Just hope the others are okay as well. What's this town like when it ain't bein' fed on by the livin' dead?"

"Ah, like most other places I suspect. Got a lot of good people, some bad ones. We have the usual assortment of local holidays, history and legends... Before you ask, there's nothing involving anything like the shamblers out there so no help there. One of the more interesting things in town are the local street racers. Mostly kids out to prove their machismo via muscle cars... on the QT I know most of them. Who do you think pimps out their rides? But that's ok because the police around here have 'mysteriously' gained some impressive upgrades to a couple of their own vehicles." He paused a moment and smirked. "In fact if we got a decent vehicle to my shop I might be able to give it some counter-shambler upgrades. But let's make that the project for after we finish up here and getting to my home."

Red gave a nod of approval. "Sounds like a plan. Heh, reminds me of 'Army of Darkness.'On a more serious note, Ah'm hopin' at least some of the cops 're okay. The extra help might be nice. On tha other hand, they probably already have their hands full. Let me know if y'all see one of them cruisers. If they're dead, they likely won't need it, but we will. Ah'll radio in fer an update."

He set himself up somewhere quiet, in this case, near the burnt-out hulk of a car. "Red ta base, Red ta base, requestin' sitrep, over."

"I hear you, Red. So far so good, over."

"Copy that. So far, no joy on locatin' the objective. ETA until arrival at last known whereabouts is five minutes. Mostly stray bullets up 'till now. No sign of much else yet. Status on fortifications, over?"

"Making use of what we have available. The father's doing a lot to help. Daughter's being a pissy little brat."

"Well, not much we can do 'bout her bein' a brat. Keep an eye on 'er an' make sure she doesn't do anythin' stupid. Ah don't want to return the momma and her gram, only ta have ta rescue the kid too. Me an' Barry 're goin' in. Let Frank know of tha developments so far."

"Rodger that. Over and out."
