[Utility Character] Celess Risdine

Celess Risdine started out as a Star Wars character on the Neverwinter Nights servers.  There she was a grouchy former Imperial technological genius who had her research stolen by a lordling, and was summarily expelled from the Imperial Engineering Academy.  She was rather cynical, jaded, and tended to have a very bleak outlook on things.

After hearing about War Z, and it's potential, I roleplayed with friends in that scenario with a different Celess Risdine.  This one was a young prodigy, multi-disciplinary genius, and professional student having doctorates and degrees in several fields of engineering, science, cultural studies, and computer programming.  This one was quasi-based on Twilight Sparkle, with a similar nieve world view, and lack of socialization, but without the OCD, codependency, and Electra complex.

Be it in a galaxy far away or just twenty minutes into the future, they both have some traits in common.  Above average intelligence, black hair, dark eyes (Hazel or black, I can never remember), the wearing of glasses, and the nickname "Cel".

So we have a young, idealistic, cheerful, professional student, with a low amount of social skills, a lot of useful knowledge garnered from both her degree programs, and doing research on the Internet, a mind-bogglingly high IQ, and a laser-focused case of OCD.

Tends to be a bit [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for a hypothetical zombie apocalypse.

But then, anybody who is into doomsday preparation knows about her, because she has a blog, with a no ads subscriber option, called "Stay Ahead of the Zed".  It uses what she's learned in her tenure as a professional student, along with such sources on the Internet as [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and TvTropes.org's [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] index, never mind The Zombie Survival Guide, World War Z, The Complete Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook, The SAS Survival Guide, Can You Survive a Zombie Apocalypse?, and the Zombie Combat Manual to help others prepare for a zombie apocalypse, and any other disasters that could come their way.  A lot of her entries contain sound, practical advice.  Others include tricks and traps that, while overkill on living enemies, would be perfect against undead perpetual motion machines, the plans for which she sells in a store site, which includes lower-priced human-only effective versions of said traps.
It was after Celess' outline on how probable, given today's technology, that a zombie apocalypse could be manufactured, that a lot of her subscribers bought the plans for the zombie traps, rather than the raider traps.

Anybody outside the prepper community would probably think she's a little crazy.  Maybe more than a little, considering she tends to carry a rather large backpack around with her, at all times.

She certainly sounds interesting.

I just hope her losing those glasses won't result in 'Velma' moments.
