    It's a Half-Life World Empty It's a Half-Life World

The time is 8:47 AM and you are deep underground in a subterranean research complex that's about five miles from the middle of nowhere.
Welcome to the Black Mesa Research Facility... And all hell is about to break loose.

The basic concept would be a veritable Reverse-Dungeon Crawl. Instead of entering and heading to the bottom looking for treasure, you start at the bottom and are desperately trying to escape with your lives.

Basic system would be Savage Worlds,
Basic Free Rules can be found here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] or elsewhere with a decent search engine.

The four basic 'Classes' found below would be
    Scientist
    Technician
    Security Guard
    Administrator

Although if you've played Opposing Force you could see how the Hazardous Envyroment Combat Unit (or HECU) Soldiers sent to kill everyone at Black Mesa might team up with them out of a desire to simply survive.
I'm thinking the HECU Soldiers would be more like 'Edges' than just character concepts because they came in three 'Flavors' with some impressive gear.
    Medic
    Combat Engineer
    Heavy Weapons

If you make a character remember to make it original and creative in who they are and what they do.
Remember what the Tram announcer said...

Do you have a friend or relative who would make a valuable addition to the Black Mesa team? Immediate openings are available in the areas of Materials Handling and low-clearance security. Please contact Black Mesa personnel for further information. If you have an associate in the background of Theoretical Physics, Biotechnology or other high-tech disciplines, please contact our Civilian Recruitment Division. The Black Mesa Research Facility is an equal opportunity employer.

The 'classes' as best I can figure.

    Security Guard

Security guards at Black Mesa are not your usual rent-a-cop. They are security professionals trained in security procedures, various types of weapons and physical fitness. Security guards start the game with the following benefits:
    •d6 Shooting
    •Pistol

    Technicians

Black Mesa is a high-tech facility with a complex system of computers, machines and slightly arcane alien technology. Technicians are trained in the various systems within Black Mesa, though they must have special security clearance to obtain training in alien technology. Technicians begin play with the following:
    •d6 Repair
    •Hazardous Environment Suit

    Scientists

The scientists of Black Mesa are an esoteric lot. All have a fairly rigorous education in physics and biology, as well as alien technology and crypto-biology. Scientists begin play with:
    •d6 Knowledge (Alien Science)
    •d6 Investigate

    Administrators

Administrators are the bosses, pencil-pushers and go-betweens for the various departments, keeping science progressing until the money runs out. Administrators begin with:
    •d6 Knowledge Bureaucracy
•Security clearance for an entire department

HECU Packages This is mostly borrowing from Weird War 2 and applying what was there to what was seen in Opposing Force. OK. So not so much an 'Edge' but there are requirements to meet.

    Medic
    •Attribute Requirements: none
•Skill Requirements: Healing, Knowledge (Medicine), Notice
    •Useful Edges: Fleet-footed, healer, medic
    •Additional Gear: Field Medical Kit.

    Combat Engineer
    •Attribute Requirements: Smarts D6
•Skill Requirements: Knowledge (Demolitions), Knowledge (Engineering), Repair
•Useful Edges: Jury Rig, Mechanically Inclined
    •Additional Gear: Toolkit, Cutting Torch.

    Heavy Weapons
    •Attribute Requirements: Strength D8
    •Skill Requirements: Shooting D8
•Useful Edges: Notice, Hose ‘Em Down
    •Additional Gear: Heavy Machine Gun

    Sniper
    •Attribute Requirements: Spirit D6
•Skill Requirements: Notice, Shooting D8, Stealth, Survival, Tracking
•Useful Edges: Danger Sense, Dead Shot
    •Additional Gear: Rifle Scope

Is it bad that I've never played any of the Half-Life games? I'm still interested in this, though, sounds interesting.

    That's ok.

All you need is to watch some walkthroughs of the Half-Life games.

I personally recommend the series "Freeman's Mind" for a funny take on the original 'Classic' Half Life [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The humorous version of Blue Shift "Barney's Mind" [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

And "Shepherd's Mind" The version they did with "Opposing Force" [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

There's also a very nicely done walkthrough/commentary on the New and improved "Black Mesa Source" remake. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I especially like how cultured and sexy the two commentators sound.

Been watching Freeman's Mind as 'research' now. 'Bout halfway through, so got the basic idea.
